What one word would you use to describe your 2022?
What word do you want to end 2023 on?
It’s a simple exercise. And it can be quite revealing.
For me, the one word for 2022 was death.
Many people I know came close to death’s door or passed through it; some dreams were no longer feasible, and some misconceptions were no longer needed. While there were many times in 2022 that were beyond sad, there was a constant theme to the year. And with each loss, I was reminded over and over that something must end before something else can begin.
My one word for 2023 is adventure.
Life is too precious for it to be anything other than an adventure. I want this coming year to be filled with discoveries, about myself, about others, and about possibilities I never knew existed. I want to be open to change and exploration, force myself to take a different road, learn something new, and meet new people. I want to wake up eager for the day ahead.
So, what is your word for 2022? Don’t think on it too long; the first word that pops into your head is probably the best one.
And when you look back this time next year, what word do you want to end 2023 on?
